Coach Craig Says Goodbye

Craig has accepted a new job and will be moving out of town. It has been a privilege to have him as one of our coaches and part of the community. He will certainly be missed but I want to wish him and his family the best with their future endeavors. He’ll be in Monday night for an hour or so to say good-bye but he wrote the following message and wanted to share it with all of you.

Dear CF316-
You may or not be aware that it will no longer be coaching at 316. I have taken a new job as the principal of a preK-5 building in Leavenworth and will be moving up there very soon. I just wanted to say a few things to all of you before hitting the road.

I can remember me coaching my first class at 316 and the crazy looks I got with my coaching style(but it grew on you all-well some-well hopefully a few). I loved it right away. I was getting to do CrossFit and help others with something I was passionate about with some really amazing people. I learned over the next year and a half exactly how amazing and inspiring you all truly are. Before coming to 316 I had never experienced the community aspect of CrossFit as I had only been in a real CrossFit gym one other time. Honestly, because of my own stupidity, I thought the things I read or heard about “community” was a joke. I wasn’t at 316 very long until I realized how wrong I was. It was so awesome to see people in the gym compete with each other, cheer each other on, pick each other up, and then sit around after class to catch up on everything. What was even more awesome was seeing people come together to help out fellow members outside of the gym, to be there and truly care for each other outside of the gym. I am so lucky to have been part of all of that.

Thank you to Jeff for the opportunity to coach and train at 316. It has been a wonderful experience. You have created a great gym but an even better community.

Also, thank you to all the members at 316. You all have inspired me in one way or another. You all put full days in at work yet still come in (most days) with smiles on your faces and work your butts off. You all put your faith in me to help you on your CrossFit journey. I will miss seeing you all each week. Also thank you for those who put up with my kids while they were there. They talked about many of you outside the gym.

If you are ever in the Leavenworth or KC area and ever need ANYTHING, please know you can always contact me to help. I wish all of you continued luck as you continue to get comfortable being uncomfortable both inside and outside the gym.

Craig
